Vintage Mac Collector

Vintage Mac Collector

Jeremy Mehrle has turned the basement of his suburban St. Louis home into one of the coolest private computer museums you will ever see. He has 74 vintage Apple Macintosh computers impeccably displayed. All of them are fully-functional so you can see what the old operating systems were like. Some of the highlights of his collection are an Apple Lisa, a 20th Anniversary Macintosh, and a NeXT computer. This is an amazing collection — amazing not for its size, but the loving care Jeremy took in displaying these machines. Also thanks to Walkie Talkie USA for providing the great Bowiesque soundtrack for this video.

There are two songs here "Guess You Gone And Fucked It All Up" and "Ole Brown Sugar."I've been looking forward to this show for a while. I discovered this band several months ago after hearing them on the Savage Kick podcast and fell in love with their raw, bluesy, lo-fi sound. They're a two-piece (piano/organ and drums) and their home base is in Louisville, KY., but for the last six months they've been tearing up stages all over Europe and the States. This date in St. Louis was the last of this tour. You should be able to find their Alive Records release at your local record store, or favorite Internet retailer including iTunes.

And somewhere around the country almost every weekend there are record swap meets where collectors can meet up to buy and sell or trade in the the music format that just won't die. I visited this one that happens every two months in St. Louis at the American Czech Hall in South City.

Peat Wollaeger & Justin Tolentino Nice & Mean Art Show at St

These guys called me and asked if I ever made videos about art shows. Well of course I do, if it's interesting. And these guys are interesting. They had a show this past fall at the St. Louis Centre, one of the many malls that was built in STL in the 80's. Time has not been good to this place. It's kind of erie to stroll around a nearly vacant mall in the middle of the day--empty store fronts, abandoned food courts. It's just plain weird. But these two guys and about 20 other artists from an arts organization called Art Dimensions brightened up the place a bit right at the begining of the Christmas shopping season.
