Lo-Fi Cherokee 2023 is proud to introduce Jeffy and the Sunken Heads. A musical ensemble brimming with experience and filled with humor, their unique style and approach to music is leaving a mark on the St. Louis music scene. We just hope that our sleeves can cover it up when we go to work in the morning. Jeffy and the Sunken Heads is: Jeff Hess, well-known in the St. Louis music scene, renowned for his contributions to Tight Pants Syndrome, The Geargrinders, and The Unmutuals, as well as a long time DJ at KDHX. Also there is Gerry Lundquist, of MU330 and Skankin' Pickle. They are joined by the versatile Steve "Doc" Dachroeden, an Australian musician who has a wealth of experience with various touring acts, and the talented Bob McMahon, an adept bass player. This charismatic group brought their musical prowess to the forefront with their performances of "Action Baby" and the humorously named, "You Have A Big Dumb Stupid Dumb Face." The band's performance was staged at Assassin Vintage. Managed by Tammy and Kay, the store boasts a lovingly curated collection of vintage clothing that ranges from the 1930s to the 1970s. These fashion-loving gals met over a decade ago while working at Anthropologie and bonded over their shared passion for vintage apparel. Tammy’s preferences lie in the mod prints of the '60s and '70s, favoring silky polyester, while Kay has a soft spot for the fashions of the '30s to '50s, and a true love for vintage western wear. Their appreciation for good music, rockabilly shows, honkytonks, and their chosen beverage, Lone Star beer, mirrors their adventurous spirit, which resonates in the variety of vintage clothing they offer. Their meticulously sourced collections are as diverse as the places they find them, ranging from quirky to those pieces that leave them exclaiming in surprise. Every item undergoes a thorough restoration process - cleaning, sewing, steaming - before it's ready for their customers to enjoy. Visit them online at https://assassinvintage.com/ or in person at 3156 Cherokee Street.
Much like the musicians that light up the St. Louis music scene, Tammy and Kay have dedicated their craft to ensuring that the past lives on in the present. It is this shared love of tradition, character, and style that makes Assassin Vintage a fitting backdrop for Jeffy and the Sunken Heads' performance.
