#179 Blowfly!
WARNING! This is DIRTY WEEK on LO-FI SAINT LOUIS. If you are offended by offensive language you'll want to skip the next couple of episodes. This isn't for the faint of heart.Blowfly started his career in the 1960s as a songwriter (he's written songs under his real name, Clarence Reid). He wrote songs for Betty Wright, Sam & Dave, Gwen McRae and KC & the Sunshine Band, among others. But he always had a second career as the dirty rapper, Blowfly. Blowfly dresses up in a super villain costume and does and act that is nothing short of filthy dirty. He played at the Atomic Cowboy in St. Louis recently, and assaulted everyone present with his offensive show. He isn't without merit, though. He is widely credited with recording the first rap song, Rap Dirty in 1965. You can find his records on Alternative Tentacles.Hey check out the Circuit, where you can interact with other fans of LO-FI SAINT LOUIS and find out what else is happening in the St. Louis music and culture scene.
