#193 Record Show!

Even though the music business has tried to make it obsolete, the record is still alive and kicking. People still love it, and there has even been a small resurgence of sales of records in the last few years. And somewhere around the country almost every weekend there are record swap meets where collectors can meet up to buy and sell or trade in the the music format that just won’t die. I visited this one that happens every two months in St. Louis.

hey thanks for showing me what that exactly is. you know i’ve seen their events a couple times before on Upcoming, but until watching this i thought it would be all Czech music. Did i see mike steinberg there? I’ll definetely have to make the next record show.

there is something special about the constant drag of a needle over vinyl vs. digital sampling which is really just small bursts of sound data.

hey bill, what’s your favorite local vinyl shop? I know there are some good ones in town.

Rock and Roll Geek Fest! I was expecting to see the Steve Buschemi character from Ghost World. Freakshow from the Residents! Great job Bill from someone who has 2 jukeboxes and 4 victrolas. Gonna Facebook this one.

Hebchop: Right now I would have to say Apop is my favorite, and also the Record Exchange–I like that one mostly because it’s in an old public library.
