St. Louis holds it’s own in the history of the Alt Country movement. Alt Country, also known as Alternative Country is basically a hybrid of traditional country and punk and/or rock and roll. Uncle Tupelo, for instance, was one of the legendary acts that played this kind of music and called the St. Louis area home. Members of Uncle Tupelo went on to form other legendary bands like Wilco and Sun Volt. So I say all that to say this — Alt Country is still very much alive in St. Louis. This particular band, Strawfoot, does a very interesting dark and almost gothic brand of Alt Country. Enjoy …

I still listen to a lot of Uncle Tupelo, and Jay Farrar, and Wilco.
Good post. Still digging, and will definitely be done on time.
It ain’t easy.
I’m not the biggest fan of Alt Country, but I enjoyed that, Bill. The guitar player looks like Tom Q!
I’m a big alt country / Wilco fan. I really dug Strawfoot. They do take it a step further though don’t they? They should incorporate snake-handling into their live act. Wouldn’t be outta place at all.
sweet. I just found this. Huge fan of Strawfoot. now I have to go watch all the other videos. who knew St. Louis had so many kick-ass bands? Well, I guess Bill did.
Thanks lo-fi guy!
We need more bands like this. AWESOME!
MORE STRAWFOOT!
