St. Louis holds it’s own in the history of the movement. , also known as Alternative Country is basically a hybrid of traditional country and punk and/or rock and roll. Uncle Tupelo, for instance, was one of the legendary acts that played this kind of music and called the St. Louis area home. Members of Uncle Tupelo went on to form other legendary bands like Wilco and Sun Volt. So I say all that to say this — is still very much alive in St. Louis.
